Janie Godfrey has been in practice since 1999 and has attended several courses that are specific to treating children with Bowen (see her website for details of training). Janie sees between 3 and 10 children weekly in her clinic. They range in age from newborns to teens and come for a wide variety of problems which are greatly improved or resolved in the majority of cases. These include: colic, sleep disorders, asthma, frequent colds and chest infections, anxieties and worries, headaches/migraines, digestive problems, panic attacks and growing pains. Bowen treatment can also be helpful with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD, also called complex regional pain syndrome CRPS). In addition, Bowen can often help with aspects of cerebral palsy, Asperger's and behavioural problems. Bowen treatment is very gentle and non-invasive and children are not alarmed or upset by it. If needed, children can be treated while sitting in the parent's lap, which adds to their feeling of security.
In accordance with the BTER Codes of Practice, therapists treating children under 16 years of age are required to have the child's parent or guardian present at all times.
